Ever considered your 'ruling' animal to be a monkey? According to the ancient Chinese Lunar Calendar, people born in 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992 and 2004 are born in the Year of the Monkey. Traditional belief suggests they are intelligent, quick-witted and exceptional problem solvers.

Year of the Monkey Design

In 2004, the Australian Lunar Silver Proof Issue celebrates the Year of the Monkey with a design featuring a monkey sitting on a tree branch and the Chinese character for 'monkey'. It includes a border of five bats among the clouds, symbolising health, peace and prosperity, and the traditional 'P' mintmark.

Proof Quality

Each coin is struck from 99.9% pure silver in flawless proof quality.
